I’m Laura Lawson, an Instructional Designer and founder of LearningMatters LLC, where I design accessible, high-impact learning experiences for healthcare systems, corporations, higher education institutions, nonprofits, and small businesses. With a decade of teaching experience—working with learners from ages 3 to 87—I bring a rare blend of instructional rigor, creativity, and empathy to every project.
After earning my M.Ed. in Learning, Design, and Technology from Arizona State University, I transitioned from full-time educator to Learning Experience Designer, developing solutions for corporate, government, and academic teams through roles with SCCI, Inc. and as an independent consultant.
My work spans the entire learning lifecycle—from needs analysis and SME collaboration to storyboarding, multimedia production, and accessibility-centered deployment for all learners. Grounded in UDL, WCAG compliance, and adult learning theory, I create courses, workshops, job aids, and enablement programs that not only meet KPIs—but transform performance, confidence, and culture.

We’ll begin with a discovery meeting to define your team’s learning and business goals. From there, I’ll collaborate with a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to gather content and insights. I’ll then create a detailed project plan and timeline to guide the process. We’ll schedule weekly or biweekly check-ins to review progress and discuss content prior to storyboard development. Stakeholders will review and approve each deliverable before we move to the next phase, ensuring alignment at every step.

Smaller projects like job aids or microlearning modules can be delivered quickly, while comprehensive eLearning programs or full curriculum builds require more time. The sooner we connect, the sooner we can align on goals, finalize a plan, and begin development.
